Apple’s new HomeView puts Siri AI, video calls and smart home controls on a shared household screen. Australian pre-orders are open now, with prices starting at A$449 and availability from Friday, 13 November.
The appeal is straightforward: a dedicated place to check what’s happening at home without constantly reaching for your phone. However, your existing Apple devices and accessories will determine how much you get from it. Apple (AU)
How Much Does Apple HomeView Cost in Australia?
Both the tabletop HomeView and wall-mounted model cost A$449 including GST.
The tabletop version comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey. The wall-mounted model offers silver or space grey, with mounting hardware sold separately from A$94.95.

You can pre-order through the Apple Store or Apple Store app.
For buyers deciding where to put it, installation costs matter alongside the device price. A kitchen bench and a permanent hallway installation involve different budgets.
What Can HomeView Do?
HomeView has a 7-inch Liquid Retina display and a 12MP Centre Stage camera that keeps people framed during video calls.
It handles music, videos, FaceTime, recipes and everyday organisation. Selected screen layouts show more detail as you approach, while photo displays turn the device into a digital picture frame between tasks.
For connected homes, it provides controls for compatible accessories and can display up to nine camera feeds simultaneously.
That combination could make it particularly useful in a shared room. The value is having those tasks accessible in one familiar place, rather than adding another screen purely for entertainment.
Do You Need an iPhone to Use HomeView?
Setup requires a compatible iPhone or iPad running the latest software. Siri’s personalised requests additionally require a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled device.
Siri AI launches in beta, with English supported in Australia. Some cloud-based features have daily usage limits, and Apple says expanded access will cost extra in the future.
This is the compatibility distinction to check before ordering: being able to set up HomeView does not necessarily unlock every personalised AI feature.
Can Everyone in the Household Use It?
HomeView recognises up to six people. Apple says personal information appears after facial recognition when the person’s paired iPhone or iPad is on the same Wi-Fi network and has been recently unlocked.
Guests can still use functions such as timers, weather, music and smart home controls without accessing private information.
That makes household access an important part of the buying decision. Consider who needs a personalised experience and who simply wants to turn on the lights or start a timer.
Is HomeView Worth Considering?
HomeView looks most relevant for households already using Apple devices and connected home accessories. Before spending A$449, check your device compatibility, choose where the screen will live and identify the tasks you would actually use every day.
For some households, a shared dashboard could remove several small daily frustrations. For others, those jobs may already be comfortably covered by the devices they own.
